Trichophytic strip Closure

This actually came about as a bonus due to the FUE methods (follicular unit extraction) 20% + relocated hair Growth rate failure,

How,? Well although 20% plus did not grow when relocated, it was noted a fair proportion of the damaged roots left behind did grow back. !

So after studies and test procedures, The 'State of The Art' Trichophitic Closure technique was Born.

Very simply the donor strip is removed with a step rather than at 90 Degrees, This leaves  approximately 1mm of 'step cut Roots' Just waiting to grow through the Fine cosmetic scar making it very difficult to see at all, even with very short hair.

Hair Restoration has developed significantly over the years.

1/ From drilling out plugs of hair-containing skin and transplanting them (plug surgery) which when grown resembled 'dolls hair'. Or 'corn rows'
2/ to removing small grafts of hair bearing skin with a scalpel and transplanting into slits (micro 'slit' grafting).

3/ To the 'Choi' Implanter technique. Using hypodermic type device's to 'inject' the roots back into the scalp.
Three separate procedures, one now long obsolete, one being used by the vast majority of operators across the globe due mainly to cost related reasons, and The Choi, only used by a handful of specialists.

On the face of it, once you understand the difference between the Choi Implanter and conventional micro 'slit' grafting, it will be reasonably straightforward for you to make your choice as to which method is best for you, However, nothing is ever straightforward, particularly with Hair Restoration Surgery.
Now you're faced with having to decide on how you would like your 'donor' hair removed from the back of your scalp?

Should you choose F.U.E. (Follicular Unit Extraction?) Or should you use the 'Hair transplant clinics' 'TrichophyticStrip' harvesting method?

The Choi Trichophytic

Don't be a victim. !

Knudsen launched into a well researched and often controversial assessment of this very topic, which he intimated to be the 'flavour of the month' within many of the hair loss 'chat-rooms' 'There seems to be an awful lot of discussion about F.U.E. in the hair loss chat rooms', he commented 'but very little evidence from people who have actually experienced the method'? 'Hyped out of all proportion by a handful of doctors using F.U.E. as a marketing tool in an attempt to make out that they have something better to offer'?

The procedure had left his patient badly scarred. Yet it is Dr. Wood, along with Dr. Ghoa who is attributed to having developed the F.U.E. technique. The removal of so much skin, albeit tiny areas at a time, has resulted in 'tightening' the skin to such a degree that something had to give. And something clearly has. The skin below the surgery site has stretched, revealing an expanse of hairless skin.

To help make his case, the Aussie surgeon

showed a photo of 'Follicular Unit Extraction,'

of one of Dr.Wood's patients .

The photo show the surgery site immediately

after a trypical F.U.E. procedure. The hair

has to be shaved to skin before the

units can be extracted.

The pictures shown below are of a patient who had a trichophytic incision on half of his wound and on the other side had a non-trichophytic closure. The side with the trichophytic closure has hair growing in the actual wound, making it less obvious. These pictures were taken 5 months after surgery, so the scars have not fully matured and a slight pink color still remains. The photos below are both from the same patient (right and left are exactly the same image), except the two on the left are unedited and the two on the right has a yellow highlight showing where the actual scar is, so that you can see clearly that hair is growing through it. I apologize because some of the hair from below the scar is obscuring the trichophytic set of photographs, but I believe if you look through the line of hair that is combed upward from below you will see the hair growing directly from the wound. I will replace these with better photographs from the next patient that comes in to the office.

Apart from neglecting to tell you of the 20% to 40% growth failure of their procedure ( and the fact that it is far more expensive, the promoters of F.U.E. (follicular unit extraction) will likely tell you that their method leaves no scars, even when you shave your head to 'skin.!

Any self respecting surgeon will tell you that all surgery (hair transplants or any other kind of surgery) leaves scars. In fact if you read what the I.S.H.R.S (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) have to say on the subject, you will soon understand the differences between what the purveyors of F.U.E. publish, and the reality of the truth.

You can read the full report and more about F.U.E: Link to: 'Reading Between the (Scar) Lines the case against F.U.E was presented by Australian Surgeon, past President of the I.S.H.R.S. Russell. As well as being a former editor of Hair Transplant 'forum'* Dr.
